First Collective Residencies Choreographer


raymond blanco is a Far North Queensland based First Nations Senior dance practitioner. A Yadhaigana (NPA), Mer; Erub, Zenadth Kes man, raymond was Australias’ first, First Nations AD of Australias’ first First Nations dance company, Aboriginal Islander Dance Theatre (AIDT) in 1989, transformed it into AIDT – ‘the company’; an elite ensemble of young Indigenous dancers and choreographers.
raymond is one of Australias’ highly regarded choreographers in the development of contemporary First Nations dance. He was NAISDA's Head of Culture & Training Operations for 7 years and more recently a Blak LAB Facilitator for APAM Gathering at Asia Topa in 2020.

We acknowledge the First Nations people as the Traditional Owners of Meanjin (Brisbane).
