Aimed at those 50-plus, this program facilitates a range of movement practices, fosters a sense of community, promotes healthy living and positive ageing.

Our tailored program invigorates and inspires, developing your physical and creative skills in a welcoming, inclusive, and stimulating environment.

The benefits of dance on your physical and mental health are well-documented, and at ADC you will be encouraged to reconnect with your body, challenge yourself, and explore the power of your creativity.

The Mature Program encompasses three streams of opportunity:

/ Mature Intensive
/ Mature Ensemble and the Mini Project

We invite you to connect with yourself, your physicality and your community with our Mature Classes. Designed for anyone who has an interest in moving their bodies, joyously. No previous dance experience is necessary.

ADC’s Mature Ensemble is a 9-week program that opens possibilities for movement and expression.

A program that is driven by community, our Mature Ensemble creates a safe, joyous space for mature people to experience the exhilaration of creating and performing new work.

Aimed at those aged 50 plus, our Ensemble is a collective of people journeying together to make work that inspires creativity, collaboration, and empowerment.

Choreographer Wendy McPhee will create a dance work with the ensemble. Labyrinth will be performed in June 2024.

About the Project

LABYRINTH

Confusion grows as act 1 begins…
Who is in the right spot?
Where should the props be?
What are those people doing here?

What looks like an end point could be a beginning.

Essentially human, Labyrinth is a visual, poetic work, equally puzzling and chaotic, joyous and disquieting.

Together we will build the work with compassion and cooperation, contribution and commitment, extending movement vocabulary, honing concentration and developing presence.

Labyrinth highlights the resilience, wisdom and creativity of each performer. I hope you will embrace the journey and revel in its unfolding.
